Enthralling Masai Safari

The Masai Safari is a gateway to the best wildlife available on the planet. The name Masai is derived from the Masai people who live in Kenya. The safari usually includes Masai Mara National Reserve which is a popular attraction located in south west region of Kenya. The biggest draw of the Masai Mara is the Big Five. The word has been coined after the five animals namely lion, black rhinoceros, African elephant, Cape buffalo and leopard which are elusive and difficult targets for game. A not to be missed event here is the great migration which encompasses search of green pastures by millions of wild animals. Other wildlife sightings include Masai giraffe, zebra, and spotted hyena along with approximately four hundred and fifty species of birds. Among the winged animals the lilac breasted roller is the star attraction as it is the Kenyan national bird.

The next interesting destination in the Masai Safari is the Samburu National Reserve which is located at distance of 350km from the capital. The reserve is a thriving ground for many wild animals owing to its riverside forest, thorn trees and lush vegetation.

The final destination of the safari is Lake Nakuru which is located in the heart of Kenya. Pink flamingos attracted by the algae flock the lake. The sheer number of the flamingos is so great that sometimes their sight resembles a pink cloud in the sky. The ideal way to enjoy the Masai Safari is by taking up a tourist package.
