The treasures of a Kenya Safari

One of the most popular destinations in Africa for wildlife photography and scenic beauty is the Kenya Safari. Located in East Africa and dotted with the small but vibrant sea coast overlooking the Indian Ocean, it is a rare combination of dry and wet climate with the temperature going rather high during most months. From the capital city of Nairobi, where one can find wildlife sanctuaries and animals in captivity it is not very far one has to go, to reach the real natural habitats of giraffes, lions, leopards, rhinoceros, elephants and buffaloes. The last five animals among those mentioned are actually known as the “Big Five” of Africa. In addition to these, there is a whole panorama for ornithologists and bird-watchers to explore as the Kenya Safari is sure to throw up some rare flocks of bird species. Reptiles and aquatic life is also diverse in Kenya and makes a great backdrop for some rare pictures if one is interested in wildlife photography.

Mombasa, which is a sure place to be visited by anyone who embarks on a Kenya safari, is right on the coast of East Africa and offers breath-taking views of the expanses of land and sea and groves of greenery in between. In addition to the natural beauty, there is a great amount of pre World War I and post war history and colonial history that impacted Kenyan culture and development. The political and social fabric is interwoven with these leanings and makes for interesting study.
